Appointment of a new partner responsible for IDR and sports law

Urban & Hejduk is pleased to announce the appointment of René Cienciala as a new partner of the law firm, effective 1 January 2022. René moves to this new assignment from his role as head of the international desk, and he will be responsible for international dispute resolution, investment protection, and sports law.

Over the past decade, René has been involved in representing clients in dozens of complex cases, including domestic litigation and arbitration, international commercial arbitration (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, VIAC), investor-state arbitration (ICSID), sports arbitration (CAS), and disciplinary proceedings (UEFA). He has already served as counsel or arbitrator (chair, co-arbitrator, and sole arbitrator) in some 50+ domestic and international arbitration proceedings. He is alumni of the prestigious Geneva LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS), co-established the YCAP group (Young Czech Arbitration Professionals), participates in the ICC Czech Republic Commission on International Arbitration, and coordinates the worldwide Grimaldi Alliance Arbitration Platform.
